A debate has been raging over the effects the Twilight series has had on teen fiction. Numerous people have put their views forward, with many denouncing the series as backward and containing dangerous role models for young women, while others have applauded the series’ ability to communicate those uniquely teenage experiences of first love, jealousy and heart break. I’ve followed this debate with great interest for two reasons:
- As an aspiring young adult author, it’s good to stay on top of what’s being said about the genre.
- I’m a big fan of the Twilight series, but sometimes it feels like a guilty pleasure.
